Illinois…In The Big City

 

For Cameron's graduation, Grandma and Grandpa came out with the Herrmann cousins. Before they went, Gabe and Elise switched states. Then on Friday, our family + Elise – Cameron and Taylor traveled back to IL. That is part one of our adventures.

 

 

With Faith and I as the organizers, we put on a play called, Anne of Green Gables. In the fist picture you can see Aubrey(as Diana) getting quite…sick… with the ‘raspberry cordial’.

 

For Father’s Day, we gave Grandpa a stepping stone that said ‘there’s no place like home, except Grandpa’s’

On Monday morning Grandpa took us to meet the train in Kewanee, IL

 

Finally, our train arrived.

We met MJ and Carolyn in Chicago to do some sight seeing.

 

This man played for us as we ate lunch. it was quite interesting really.

We went to the AG store, Hope and Aubrey LOVED the little bitty twins.

We stopped in a little courtyard for a break,(at this time the boys were secretly enjoying a Ghirardelli Chocolate Sundae)

On Tuesday we went to enjoy Lake Michigan. The water was VERY cold, but we made an awesome sand castle, and flew kites and buried Caleb standing up.

On Tuesday night, we split up into two groups and did skits. they we very funny. In the top picture, Gabe(the police) is arresting Caleb for stealing Hope(the baby) from Mom and replacing it with a stuffed bear.

Our skit was about a soup kitchen where with the meal you share your life issues and discuss how to help others. Cole, was a business man who couldn’t get anyone to buy his Legos and stop playing video games.

 

On Wednesday morning we went to the Botanical Garden.

It was so pretty. What a nice ending to a wonderful 5 days with family! I will admit that I was ready to see some cornfields, and hills once again.

We left after lunch and arrived home and 1:45 in the morning.

 

P.S. Caleb wasn’t' really standing up, but that’s what we told everyone at first.
